1. Introduction

Elevated Systems LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Cortisol+ mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Cortisol+ on iOS and Apple Watch.

2. Information We Collect

Health & Fitness Data (via Apple HealthKit)

With your explicit permission, Cortisol+ reads the following data from Apple Health to estimate your stress levels:

  • Heart rate and resting heart rate
  • Heart rate variability (HRV)
  • Walking heart rate average
  • Respiratory rate
  • Blood oxygen saturation (SpO2)
  • Wrist skin temperature
  • Sleep analysis
  • Active energy burned and step count
  • VO2 max
  • Workout data

Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive:

  • A unique user identifier (Apple ID token)
  • Your name and email address (only if you choose to share them)

Subscription Information

Purchase and subscription status is managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Calculate your estimated cortisol (stress) levels using our 10-factor algorithm
  • Display historical stress readings and trends
  • Send optional high-stress notifications
  • Manage your account and subscription

4. Data Storage & Security

All health data stays on your device. Cortisol+ processes your biometric data entirely on-device. We do not transmit, upload, or store your health data on any external server.

  • Health data is stored locally using Apple's on-device frameworks (SwiftData and UserDefaults via App Groups)
  • Your Apple ID credential is stored securely in the iOS Keychain
  • No health data is sent to our servers or any third party
  • Data shared between the iOS app and Apple Watch uses Apple's secure App Group container

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal or health data to any third party. Your health information never leaves your device. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Cortisol readings are retained on your device for up to 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted
  • You can delete all stored readings at any time from Settings > Data Management > Clear All Data
  • You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Account > Delete Account & Data
  • Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data

7. Apple HealthKit Compliance

Cortisol+ complies with Apple's HealthKit guidelines. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing purposes. Health data is never shared with third parties, and we do not store health data in iCloud or any external database.

8. Children's Privacy

Cortisol+ is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data the app has stored (available in the app)
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all data at any time
  • Revoke Permissions: Revoke HealthKit access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health
  • Opt Out: Disable notifications at any time in Settings

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy here and updating the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
