Elevated Systems (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates The Word mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your display name, username, and optionally your email address for account recovery. We use Firebase Authentication to manage accounts. You may sign in anonymously or link an Apple ID.

Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage data to improve the app, including features accessed, subscription status, and app performance metrics.

Local Data

Your prayer journal entries, mood history, verse favorites, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data.

Community Content

Posts shared to the Community feed and Prayer Wall are stored in our cloud database (Google Firebase Firestore) and are visible to other users. Anonymous prayer requests display no identifying information.

AI Chat Feature

When you use the “Talk with The Shepherd” chat feature, your messages are sent to Anthropic (anthropic.com) to generate responses. These messages are processed according to Anthropic’s Privacy Policy. We do not store your chat messages on our servers.

Important: The Shepherd is an AI assistant, not a real person. It does not represent Jesus Christ or any religious authority. Responses are AI-generated and intended for spiritual reflection only — not a substitute for pastoral care, counseling, or professional guidance.

In-App Purchases

Subscription payments are processed securely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, process, or store any payment or financial information.

Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, cloud database
• Anthropic — AI chat responses
• RevenueCat — Subscription analytics
• Apple StoreKit — In-app purchase processing

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not use third-party advertising services.

Data Retention & Deletion

• Local data (journal, favorites, mood history): Deleted when you uninstall the app or use “Clear All Data” in Settings.
• Cloud data (profile, community posts): Retained while your account is active. Contact us to request deletion.
• Chat messages: Not stored by us. Subject to Anthropic’s data retention policy.

Children’s Privacy

The Word is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including Firebase Authentication, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), and Firestore security rules that restrict data access to authorized users only.
