Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using The Word (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Use of the App

The Word is a faith-based devotional application designed to provide Bible verses, devotional content, and spiritual encouragement. You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose and in a manner consistent with its Christian values and community standards.

2. Account

You may use the App with an anonymous account or link an Apple ID. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.

3. Subscriptions

• Free tier: Access to limited core features including 1 verse per emotion per day, daily devotional, and basic journal.
• Premium: Unlimited access to all features including unlimited verses, 600+ daily lessons, Shepherd chat, community, audio, and faith challenges.
• Pricing: Weekly ($1.99/week), Monthly ($4.99/month), Yearly ($44.99/year).
• Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Management: You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings.

4. AI Chat Feature

The “Talk with The Shepherd” feature uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic’s Claude) to generate responses. You acknowledge that:

• The Shepherd is an AI, not a real person, and does not represent Jesus Christ or any religious authority.
• Responses are AI-generated and intended for spiritual reflection only.
• The AI is not a substitute for pastoral care, therapy, counseling, or professional guidance.
• You should not rely on AI responses for medical, legal, financial, or emergency situations.

5. Scripture & Content

Scripture passages are provided for personal devotional purposes. AI-generated devotional content, lesson breakdowns, and reflections are for spiritual encouragement and do not constitute theological doctrine or official church teaching.

6. Community Standards

When using the Community features, you agree to:

• Not post content that is hateful, abusive, threatening, or harassing.
• Not post content that is sexually explicit, violent, or promotes illegal activity.
• Not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
• Not spam, solicit, or advertise.
• Respect other users and the faith-based nature of the community.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these standards.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create. By posting to the Community, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display your content within the App. You may delete your content at any time.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is owned by Elevated Systems and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App.

9. Disclaimer

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of any content, including AI-generated responses.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Elevated Systems shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
