What do I need for Siri answers?

An iPhone running iOS 27. Siri answers and summaries use Apple Intelligence, so they need an iPhone that supports it, with Apple Intelligence turned on; availability varies by device, region and language. Writing, saving, the brain and search work without it.

Always include “Recall” in what you say, for example “Hey Siri, ask Recall where I parked.” That is how Siri knows to check your notes instead of answering on its own.

Siri isn’t answering from my notes.

Check that Apple Intelligence is turned on in the Settings app. Then open Recall’s Settings: under Index you can see how many notes are indexed and when, and tap Reindex Now if anything looks out of date.

Live transcription isn’t available.

Transcription uses Apple’s on-device speech model, which needs a supported language on your iPhone. When it isn’t available, Recall still records and keeps the audio, so nothing is lost.

Can Recall record calls?

Calls in other apps: yes. Recall records calls in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and most other call apps on the same iPhone. Tap + › Call in another app, confirm in the iOS screen-sharing picker (turn on the Microphone there to include your side), then switch to your call. Recall keeps only the audio, transcribes it on your iPhone and writes a conversation note labeled You and Them.

Phone and FaceTime calls: not this way, because iOS keeps their sound private. Use the Phone app’s record button, then share the recording from Notes to Recall to transcribe it on device.

Either way, tell people you’re recording and get their consent where the law requires it.

How do I set up spending?

In the Shortcuts app, create a personal automation that runs when you pay with Apple Pay (the Wallet transaction trigger). Add Recall’s Log Purchase action, pass it the Merchant and Amount from the Shortcut Input, and set the automation to run immediately. You only do this once. Then ask, “How much did I spend this week in Recall?”

Where do my notes live? Does Recall work with Obsidian?

In a folder you choose: Recall’s own folder in Files › On My iPhone › Recall, or one you already use. Every note is a plain Markdown (.md) file you can open, move or back up like any other file, with [[links]] between notes, so you can open the same folder in Obsidian.

One catch: vaults kept inside Obsidian’s own app storage can’t be opened by any other app. Move the vault to iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, then connect it from Recall’s Settings.

How much does Recall cost?

Recall is a subscription, and it starts free: 7 days free, then US$59.99 a year, or 3 days free, then US$8.99 a month. The App Store shows the price in your currency before you confirm, and Apple handles the payment.

Cancel any time in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before a trial ends and you won’t be charged.

I got a new iPhone. How do I restore my subscription?

Install Recall, sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, and tap Restore on the subscription screen or Restore Purchases in Settings › Subscription. If it still doesn’t unlock, email us; please don’t subscribe again.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything stays on your iPhone: your notes, recordings, screenshots, reminders, spending and Siri conversations. Transcription, reading images and answering questions all happen on your iPhone, and we never see or use your data. Your notes only travel if you choose, for example by keeping your notes folder in iCloud Drive or sharing a note yourself. The Privacy Policy has the details, including how purchases are handled.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a note in Recall or in the Files app. Deleting the app removes everything in its private storage: recordings, the index, reminders, the purchase log and the Siri log. Files in your notes folder stay yours until you delete them.
